Longshore currents on a meso-tidal beach of Goa, India - Measurements and improved formulae

Field experiments in the surfzone were conducted on a meso-tidal beach stretch between Sinquerim and Baga off Goa India's central west coast. Surfzone waves currents measured using an array of seabird wave tide gauges Aanderaa RCM9 current meters. Rip observed prominently this with increased intensity during ebb tide. Six longshore prediction equations are tested for their suitability region. The Longshore Current (LSC) estimated these showed wide range Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) Scatter Index, correlation coefficients also found to be less than 50 %. Hence, further modified by including alongshore wind shear component, LSC was re-estimated study variations along Candolim beach. It that improved up 64 % most equations.
